First of all, I've got 3 240s. Recently, my daily driver coupe blew a headgasket and could really use a fresh motor in it. But now, I'm questioning whether or not I should put my money and effort into my convertible.

Unfortunately, the previous owner wrecked it and its got a lot of miles on it. What it needs is:

The engine smokes a little. Probably just needs fresh valve seals. and it cranks a little slow at times but that I think is just a weak battery or loose ground or something. It always turns over and fires up no problem though.

a new radiator support (which I've actually got an extra from an old parts car)

all new suspension on the front end (most of it is worn out or slightly warped from whatever they hit)

the top has a hole from where someone broke into it, and the it's pretty nasty otherwise. Can't see out the rear window much at all.

the top of the windshield has quite a bit of rust on it (the painted sheetmetal), but it hasn't started rusting down the pillars as far as I can find

it needs all new brakes and rotors, the e-brake reattached.

The front fenders are dented, but the hood and bumper are ok, just needs paint and minor body work.

Another big issue for me, is the interior. Its all there, but very "heat warped". Unfortunately the previous people screwed it together with all sorts of screws. *laugh* Dash is cracked too, but whatever. No Radio either. Got stolen.

So it's quite a big project, but the car runs and drive good enough. Hell, I drive it back and forth to work now that my daily is out of commission. A big part of me wants to fix it up and make it my daily driver. Maybe strip all the parts off my 92' coupe and install those on the vert, get a fresh KA, replace the top and work with the interior best I can. Overall, I think it's very possible to get it back in great shape.

BUT, the easiest route would be for me to just get a fresh KA, or replace the headgasket in my coupe and just SELL the vert off, or park it for another 6-8 months until I have more time and money to work on it. (I have a 1998 KA-T that is my real money pit, so I might not ever get to it really)

What would you do? Anyone want to buy it? Anyone interested in trades? A vert for a decent shape KA24DE? Or something along those lines.

I would fix up your daily driver back to running. Keep the vert sitting around until you get time to full with it. Since it runs and drives atleast it's a back up car. You can fix on it when you get time. Since it looks like your in sunny Florida. A vert would be super nice. Assuming you have room that's what I would do.

Yeah, I've got plenty of room for everything. I just really want a decent reliable vehicle. Not that 240s aren't reliable. I've just got a ton of half finished projects laying around and am getting a little sick of looking at 3 cars that all need a bunch of sh*t done to them.

But yeah, I'm going to fix my coupe up for sure. Even if it's just to sell it. I've even thought about selling the 1998 KA-T project and put all those funds towards making a completely rebuilt, boosted vert. But everyone has told me I'd be crazy to sell my 98 since It's nicer. *shrugs*

That just comes down to how passionate you are about the cars and if they are paid for you could always buy a newer vehicle but then your play money would be gone that you tend to throw into your older cars. It's car payment vs fixing the little things. I keep swearing up and down I am gonna scrap my bonneville but I've fixed so much crap on it I just keep fixing it. I figure it costs 300-500 dollars in misc repairs to fix it a year which is still cheaper then paying 300-500 a month on a newer vehicle. Since I don't travel any farther then an hour away from the house it's reliable enough to make trips like that. For the big trips we'd just take my gf's car as it's the newest car. Only you can make the decision I think you allready know what you want to do and have your mind made up your just on here so we can give you support
