Just blew up my engine over reved it?Now it's tapping and blowing white smoke through the oil dip stick? Is it worth rebuilding or just getting one of those used JDM engines? How much do you think it should cost to have an engine swapped in N/A for a N/A?thanks

Cost wise, it would probably be cheaper to just drop in a JDM VG30DE but if it were me, I'd rebuild the one you have and throw some extra goodies at it. Not only will you have a motor that will be fresh and new but you could install things like bigger cams, larger pistons, etc. Also, you would learn a lot about the VG by rebuilding it yourself.

I've been waiting for my NA to blow up so I can justify swapping it, but the engine is amazingly built. It just keeps taking it and doesn't show any signs of stress...

I cant think of how you would have blown it from over revving...

I failed to mention that I may overboosted it with my custom rear mount turbo. It blew off the hose that fed the fuel regulator, the car went lean, I was going at high rpms, the engine decompressed Think I blew out a ring or damaged a lifter or valve and I then heard the tapping and the white smoke was coming out of the dip stick. Cra still runs and drives but will not go beyond 80mph.

lol i kinda figured there was more to it

In this case....I'll say swap in the TT motor since the NA one is junk now anyway

either rebuild the NA with lower comp pistons and better rods to handle some more boost, or you can just do a tt swap while you've got the excuse for it.

sounds like you just blew the headgasket, if you don't drive ti in it's rpesent condition you can just do the headgaskets and call it a day

I would love to think it was just the head gasket, but would that account for the tapping and the white smoke coming from the dip stick when I throtlle up? I'm not getting that distinctive white smoke from the exhaust if it where a head gasket. I was thinking maybe a fried ring or decompressed lifter?
