hey guys im in bit of a dilema. I have redtop motor i either want to do a rebuild or another swap. ...neway, i can either sell the motor and swap in 2nd gen s14 cuz i want to take advantage of the vtc that's if i am not gonna uprgade power significantly. At the same time i have brand new greddy cams and valve springs and i just bought a F-CON v too for the s13 before i decided to do any of this...should i rebuild the motor and put in factory pistons, bearing, rods.,, etc...or sell the motor and invest a little more and go s14 ..i have around 3k to spend right now so i want to do what is best. any suggestions?thanks guys

I say rebuild.......why? Because why go thru the trouble of getting another motor when you already have one? If you spend that $3K on the SR you have now, you'll have way more HP than you would if got the new motor? By the way, what is worng with the S13 anyways??? That info might tilt the scale.........

I would rebuild the s13 motor. No point in swaping out a stock motor for another stock motor, you wont see too much improvement.

Rebuild it. Go 2.2 with sleeves, all some dough for a decent turbo, and blow the doors off a Ferrari.

Honestly, Rebuild the motor. The vtc is not worth it. A more complicated system and the port design is not as straight forward as the older red tops makes this the least favorable of the 2 choices.

Rebuild it. Rebuild it and you won't run the risk of a possible bad motor that the s14's might have. Also if you're gonna rebuild, you'd probably want to get the timing chain job done. My 95 blacktop still had the plastic tension side guide that was recalled within the first couple months of it appearing in the 89 KA's which was promptly swapped with a metal guide from a 91 SE-R. While your redtop's open, might as well put in some ARP headstuds and give it new gaskets all the way around.

rebuild for sure and paint the rocker covers black.

much better way to go then you know where your motor is at quality wise rather than risking on a s/hand motor.meggala

Rebuild it, your motor will be much stronger in the long run than purchasing another motor set, with an unknown background. Plus you can have a motor that will blow the doors off any stock SR, no matter black or Red top, and you already have the harness done too, no point in going back and rehackign the wires again for 10hp and VTC. If ya need any help on finding upgrade parts for the SR, call the shop at 281-392-4480, talk to Alan, aka NISMO_FREAK on NICO. We can help ya get squared away.

Although it's already been said enough, I need to exercise more post whorishness in my ultimate quest, for biggest babbler on NICO (10,000 here I come!!). So...

Rebuild it.

sell me the s13 motor....cheap:D

But seriously............... rebuild.

I laugh at people wanting the VTC. Nissan put it on sr to make up for power loss, because they redesigned the ports for emissions.
