I have around 165k on my 95 zenki, and I'm looking to either rebuild or drop in a new engine.

What would be the best route in your opinions?

I'd like to go with an Sr20det, but I don't have the most extensive mechanical knowledge to swap it on my own. Another bad thing is that there are pretty much no shops around that would install it around here.

I just changed my fan clutch...for the second time. Seems it keeps going out for no good reason. Maybe I should go with electric fans.

Anyway, thanks in advance for any advice.

why rebuild it? is it giving you problems? the least expensive is of course to rebuild what you have. Most of these engines are good for well over 200,000 miles though.

Well you can figure out the SR vs. KA deal on your own. Search around for info on both to figure out what it is you want.

A fan clutch going out is not a good reason to do an engine swap. What you should consider for this problem is probably the electric fans. You can search around for which fan will best suit your needs. Usual suspects for this are altima fans and flex-a-lite fans.
