I just got a CA18 and I am going to rebuild it. I have a friend who works at Nissan so I have a hook up there and would like to know what I should replace. I really really reall need part numbers and/or where these parts come from as well. This is what I have thought of so far.

Water Pump CA18DE Pulsar NX B150-1350Head Gasket ?Timing Belt Kit ?Gasket Kit ?Engine Gasket Kit ?Thermostat ?

As you can see, lots of questions marks need to be filled and some suggestions on what else I should replace would be great too. Thx

Give me a day and I'll post all the things I bought (I too work for Nissan) when I rebuilt my motor. I should have every part # you'll ever need:)

oh you can also check the crossover parts sticky at the top of the page, but some of the #'s are JDM and European Part #'s so they don't match up to anything... the majority of them do though:)

I WOULD NOT GET A FWD PUMP EVEN OEM - they will likely be selling you a newer alternate part which is NOT guaranteed to survive RWD life. if you run an electric fan and not a mechanical fan, you'll probably be OK, but no guarantees.

However, if you get a CA18ET pump from a S12 (OEM is fine of course) you should be fine. this is untested, but assuming the part #'s don't lie..

or get a FWD pulley... and run electric fans:) I don't see why you would have any additional stress if you use the proper pulley...

Luckily mine had recently been replaced, so I didn't have to mess with it.

on my KA I wired up the AC condensor fan (not big but boy does it move air!) to a pair of relays so that the thermoswitch that's already there (normally only gets power to the fans when AC is on AND over 198F) gets power whenver the ignition is on (but not acc or start), and it almost never turns on, unless it's been driven hard and then sat still, say on a hot day, driven hard for at least 20 min then sitting still w/ no airflow for about 5 min before it'll kick in.. then it'll turn off.... and a few seconds later, on... and a few seconds later, off... hahah.. the switch turns off below 188 and on above 198 so it has to drop 10 degrees before it switches off, works great.

but I'd be a bit wary of not running any, as some crazy fools want to :P

hey, i ran no fans on my car in the alabama summer and it didnt overheat! then i used the a/c fan wired to the ignition and it worked great (though quite loud). now ive got this permacool fan that moves a stupid amount of air. now my car overheats when i dont have the heating on though. it only started recently. i dont know what the crap is wrong with my car but i hope it gets resolved this weekend.

Its all stuff for a 1988 Pulsar NX with the CA18DE engine. I'm staying on campus with my girlfriend because I cracked a piston and its finals week, so can't get home to get those #'s right now... but if you just ask for stuff for an 88 Pulsar NX with the CA18DE engine you'll be fine:)

I have hit a delema and was wondering what you guys would say. I am damn near broke and I can only afford to put in $500 for parts. It will be another two months before I can double that amount and I really dont want to wait that long to install my motor... So I was thinking of doing just the following.

Timing Belt KitSpark PlugsWater PumpOil FilterThermostatMotor & Trannie Mounts - Stock ones are shot and my trannie is leaning sideways...HKS Down Pipe - Clip was missing a down pipe...HKS Filter Element - Clip has no air box but a friend is going to let me borrow his filter for a SR20. The filter element is dead though...

if you're desperate I bet you can attatch the CA MAFS to your stock KA airbox without too much drama.. and throw whatever cheap filter on that.

or get a $20 ebay cone filter.. better flow than a dead HKS and can't be any worse filtration than a dead filter.. beats worrying about sucking in small insects and such.

but, whatever floats your boat..
