Im helping my friend build a KA-T .... from scratch.we got the shell. we got the ka24de. now i was wondering what are some good websites for good parts?if there are parts better than Nissan oem, that are about the same price or little higher? what parts should i look into upgrading.

so far, i'm looking for,rings,bearings main and rod,gasket kit,metal head gasket,timing kit,water pump,

i want to eliminate what i can. ex. EGR, evap. i don't know much about the car yet.any tricks that well help it perform, run safer?

where in jax, I am local

also before they get ya, post up the goals yor are try to reach power/usage...

duh your questions

I'd go for some moly rings from an altima, someone chime in on the year!

Bearings I can hewk joo up, internal engine parts on beaver, IIRC 32 for main/rod bearings from clevite may be able to get you calico coated ones but IDK.

Felpro h/g will probably be more than enough.

front and rear main use oem nissan parts, the rest flepro is fine... same for timing kit, or ams sells one

water pump is a wash IMHO as no aftermarket is available... autozone/pepboys...

the only things needed on the intake are pcv, fpr, brake booster....besides obvious tps iac(some dont run it),cts...

i was thinking 250whp with a s15t28.im on the Northside. Damon with the white silvia s14 kat was the one who talked me in to it.

also im afraid that the thin gasket between the cylinders will make it blow easier. who knows, one day we'll be able to turn up the boost to 10-12.

"front and rear main use oem nissan parts, the rest flepro is fine...same for timing kit, or ams sells one " front and rear what? seals? whats this about not needing the timing guides? the engine we picked up was said to have a rattle in the timing... maybe we wont need the kit just a chain and the guide removal...

why altima rings?

so you work at an engine shop? do you do machine work too?

do i understand correctly that the main bearings come as a set, and the rod bearings need a specific grade. i only know one website for grade bearings for the 240 courtesynissan.com, they want 80$ for the thrust bearing...

ACL bearings work fine from ebay, 50 bucks shipped.

The rest i would pick up from FRsport.com. Best prices on OEM stuff.

Should not have an issue hitting 250 w/s15 turbo...

Ask damon about nissan fanatic and his felpro holding 530whp before the rods gave out... omfg get away from that guy total h0m0 j/k I heart his car, too bad he does grip, I see so much potential in that thing, lacks a welded diff and it could be pro stats at the "qualifier" in november, with the right wheelman. decent guy, gave me his old spec(went kat on stock clutch), it fail'd on me though the center gave out...

front main and rear main they seal the crank pulley and rear of crank from oil leaks dont skimp they are two of the worse ka issues, due to being such a PITA while motor is in the car. Well the chain may be good still, guides are a joke nissan missed badly. Worth doing the chain, however I wouldnt=me so cheap...

Cannot recall the year however they fit 240 pistons(same exact thing) and have a cromoly compression ring = way better than cast, which you can easily snap with your hands... just pointing out an alternative to stock, which works fine....

acl are good as well, but clevite at 32(about 6~9 months ago, I'm sure price was subject to change, lol) dollars local is saving 20 bux to get my man that copper head gasket he wants.

well... I work.... at home.... stay home dad ftmfw!!!!!!11 I have just been dealing with these stoopid things for like 5 years, doing kat for like 2 and change... had a t25 setup and a t3 setup, trying to fing new t3 to fix it back up.

get on the local forum too, 240sx.net or whats your s/n? anyway glad to see another kat in the works local, lmk if you need anything.

good info guys.... thanks.

i guess we'll just have to pull it apart to see whats wrong. and again about the timing guides that are a "joke" can i just remove them?

its also a possibility that my friend wants a q45 swap... its a very limited budget, and the 45 swap seeps pretty simple to me.... correct me on what it takes so i can decided what i want to do for him.

nah.... im really liking the Nissan KAT
