What would be the real need to rebuild a set of heads? I'm rebuilding the engine, and will have the heads surfaced, but do I really need to rebuild them or would a good cleaning of the valves suffice? http://twinturbo.net/net/viewmsg.aspx?f ... dtSearch=4

Usually it depends on how many miles are on them, which impacts how worn they are.

A machine shop would measure the valve springs and decide if they are still within spec or if they're shot. If any valves need to be replaced, that should be done too. If the valve springs still check out you can just polish them up and replace the valve stem seals.
