I toyed with selling my 240 this summer but I've finally decided to keep it. I love the car too much, lol.

Anyways, I'm running a t3/t4 @ 7 psi right now but the car has 112k miles and compression is pretty low in the first cylinder. Car still drives fine for now but I know it's a ticking time bomb running around boosted.

I'm obviosuly going to do a rebuild real soon, but I'm not sure how crazy I should go with a 350 hp goal. I don't plan on racing with the car, it'll be a dd in the summer so I most likely won't be pushing the car much. You guys think I'd need forged internals? I've heard stock internals are good up to like 400 hp? I'd like to get a decent cheap rebuild kit with just the essentials and then shop around for the other stuff to try and save a lil money.

I'll be doing all the work myself, you guys think I can get it rebuilt to hold 350 hp for around $1,000? (Not including a re-tune)

My guess is that no one was willing to over pay for your car :P

So you are keeping it.

Good luck with the build hehe.

I love KA-T's, but IMO, you should only do a KA-T project if you're planning on keeping things cheap. I mean, that's the whole appeal of the motor! It's dirt cheap! If you're breaking the bank with forged internals and whatnot, what's the point of using this motor? Just go with something thats already stronger.

I say rebuild your motor to stock specs and turbo it within it's capabilities. You've heard this saying before, right:

When building a project, you get to pick 2 out of these 3.-fast-cheap-reliable

I say go for cheap and reliable. 350hp is just about the raw edge of cheap and reliable for a KA if done right...

I never even listed the car anywhere. Thanks for the great input though.

Trust me I'd love to put a different motor in, specifically an LS1 swap, but any engine swap would cost way more than a simple rebuild. Not to mention I've already spent all the money turbo'ing the car, all I need is a rebuild and it should be good for 300+ hp.

Aren't KA internals already forged? Cept the pistons right?

Stock KA internals are pretty good, they can handle 300hp.

If you want to exceed that, you'd buy stronger forged rods and stronger pistons.
