I have a 89 240sx hatch. Is it possible to rebuild a blown motor? I bought a 240sx for $350 I was told the the motor was blow. He said that there was piston slap. I don't know anything more than that. Or would it be better to buy a new motor? I am not looking for a any power in the car so I would like to keep a ka24e in it.

Yes it is rebuildable, will require a full rebuild (ground crank, bored block, new oversize pistons, cylinder head full machining). Pay close attention to the rods, you will want to bring them into machine shop as well to see if any need resizing (big end) or if they are bent. Slightly bent rods are fixable.

Rebuild it, what else can you do with the motor. Btw, the motor might be too far gone to rebuild....stuff like really gouged cyl or crank journal, cracked block etc...
