Post

After months of gathering parts, test-fitting, etc, and eventually a motor swap, a friend and I have re-assembled my 240 vert earlier this weekend.

I didn't really care much for the chuki front end, so I sold it when I found some Silvia body panels and a front bumper.

I will let the pictures speak a little more for themselves.

Front side.

Front.

Side.

Rear with Exhaust (BRM 3" Stainless steel to 2.5" Dual Tips.)

Some might ask "Why a 3 inch exhaust?"

RB Powered. So she has a 3" downpipe to the cat, and all the way back to the muffler, Courtesy of BRM. Excellent exhausts, you should get one.

Comments & Criticism appreciated.Next up on the list: Better/smaller Radiator (already have better fans)New Suspension (Coilovers, RUCAs, LCAs, etc..) [Winter Project]Eventually R32 Wheels if I can find a good set.Possibly Paint, though I don't mind it being multi colored (old ladies look at it like it's a P.O.S hehe)New TOP/Interior [last thing on the list]

Nice! Love knowing there are RB verts

Oddly enough looks like a buddy of mine's house in the background, yet totally different state. haha

Coming together nicely, good stuff.

Thanks.

I am going to get better pictures (better lighting) up later when I can use my friend's good camera.

I'll also get a sound clip of the exhaust (driving), and idling. As well as a video maybe in the next few days.

It is still 70* here so I am driving with the top down for the next week or so then putting her up for winter work.

That looks so good! Sometimes I wish I'd have stuck with a stock silvia bumper. It's going to be amazing when you get it painted.

RB is nice too!

There is nothing like the sound of a RB while driving with the top down.

Thanks for the compliments. I drove it to class today with the top down and the exhaust sounds amazing, mostly because of the sound of the motor, and the excellent job done with the piping/muffler/resonator.

Haven't gone into boost very much because I am still braking in the clutch and going easy on her.

Also, I planned on getting 180SX side skirts and Coupe rear valences if:1.) I can find them.2.) My funds permit a few more cosmetic upgrades.

What do you mean? What bumper do you have? I have a "stock" silvia bumper, however it is the AERO bumper. I'm not sure if you can tell with the bad lighting on the pics.

BRICK headlights, R32 Grill, and Aero bumper.

Aside from those three pieces being extremely hard to find in good condition (and expensive), I'll say the 1 year wait and gathering of the parts was worth it. So much better than the USDM Chuki front end, and it sets this 240 apart from most others in my town.

I've got a Vertex kit.

Sometimes I think the sleeker smaller signature of the silvia bumper is much better. Especially the aero that you have.

Mine has a bigger lip.. just looks beefier more square..

Mine's nice... but yours is very nice as well!!!

i would go with bigger wheels than r32 wheels. they kinda narrow too. you have and rb, break in the clutch, put some fat wheels on her and turn up the boost!!

narrow??? I am on 300zx wheels right now (7" wide). R32 wheels are 8" wide, 16" tall and forged in house. Not to mention like 16LBS...

the front could use some different tires because it's close to rubbing when I take certain turns (granted I will also have new suspension/tie rods before spring.)

When it comes to wheels (call me stupid), but I don't really want to throw anything on there but some Nissan OEM. I have considered 350Z "Anniversary (or 07 and UP) wheels, but am not sure on fitment/offset.

Also, my selection of wheels is going to be mostly determined by clearance for my brakes in the front. I have 300zx 30mm aluminum calipers sitting in my garage I am going to throw on when I can get some SS lines and some new rotors.

I like this style of wheel but I'm not sure on fitment/offset or tires I'll need to run.

Again, thanks for the compliments.

What?

Anyways.

After a few issues with my exhaust, you can't really tell from the posted pics, but my muffler is crooked.

There are also a few clearance issues I took it to a muffler shop (family owned&operated for 40+ years, not to mention a friend of the familys), and they basically told me they liked the resonator, cat, downpipe, and muffler, but the routing of the pipes could have been 100x better.

here are a few pictures of clearance issues, and the crooked muffler.

The Sway Bar is not my only issue, on the other side (I couldn't get a picture of it), by the differential it is hitting a bolt or two if I raise it up to where the muffler is not crooked.

don't know what I'm gonna do about it but now my BRM exhaust looks like a haggard P.O.S.

I was just trying to clearify for the guys who were questioning the R32 rims you were describing. As you were correct in saying that the R32 (GTR) are 16x8 not to be mistaken between the (GTST) which are narrower.

Thats all

yeah, haha, that's what I thought, I didn't know if you were referring to the guy asking about the grill or not.

I have heard mixed things about the GTR wheels. Some say it's 6.5 in the front (which would be fine with me), and 8 in the rear, some say 8 all around, but IDK, never seen a set in person.

Any for those of you planning on going RB, plan on plenty of $$$ after you find a motor set. Tons of **** I had to change out and just kept running into to make it work (2 different intercoolers just for starters...)

Found an old post for a set for sale...they said all 4 were 16x8 with 30 offset 5x114.3. Here is a pic of them:

Before anyone asks...no I don't know who was selling these...don't know if they are still for sale...post was from 2007...but I do know the guy was asking $700.

i am planning on running no less than a 17 10 up front and atleast 17 10.5 and up to a 12 in the rear...maybe run 18s havent decided yet.

good luck with your project
