Hello All,

I've been a Nissan owner about all my life and for the last few weeks I have been negotiating with a couple Nissan dealers. So what is considered a great deal on a new 2011 Versa SL? I've checked Kelley Blue Book, Edmunds, etc... but just wondering if that is the deal to go for? They seem a little high. The last "drive off the lot" price I received was $18500. I don't care about the navigation system or sunroof but I like all the other features that come with the SL (nice wheels, arm rest, ipod interface, etc)
Any price suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

That's a start thanks. I'm in Atlanta so that might explain a little higher $$. I was hoping to get well under $18000.
Anybody negotiate a good deal lately?

Tell your dealer that Nissan is offering "employee" pricing til the end of September. See if they'll give you that discount or something better than $18.5.

Are they doing employee pricing now? If so, they would be a great idea.

Thinking about buying this weekend or next. Anybody else with a good purchase price for a 2011 Versa SL? Is it reasonable to offer $17500 for the drive out price? Also debating colors. I love white but the black and reds are sharp too.

Bringing in offers from other dealers can really help when you're trying to buy a new car. I found some pretty low prices in my area when I went shopping, and my local dealer instantly lowered their price to match (before any negotiating really got started). Here's a dealer I found (near Atlanta) offering a new 2011 SL for $17,498: http://www2.diamondlot.com/dls/inventor ... 98&lang=en

I'd use Nissan's Dealer Locator to find other dealerships near you and search their new inventories. Most of the dealerships I found near you weren't listing their Internet prices online, but I'm sure you can make a few calls to some of them to get price quotes that you can take with you. Good luck!

That is a great find! I had gathered prices from 3 dealers but they didn't come close to that price. I'm going to use that link and see what my local guy will do. I was hoping to drive out the lot at $17500 (no other fees). That might be impossible but I will give it a try. I sent that offer in- no word yet. I'll let you know how it goes.

You do know that with the all new '12's out, the value of that '11 is going to sink as soon as you drive it off the lot. You don't want to buy a used '10 or '11 and save $5K?

I have considered buying used (and I still might) but used car prices are at a 16 year high and I don't see many used SLs with low miles for sale around here. At least the VersaSL seems to hold value pretty well. I see the Versa S models still fetch $10-$12000 and the miles are at least 50000 plus they are 2008 or so models. Gas prices should keep the demand up.
I floated a few offers to some dealers but no response yet so we will see. Do dealerships not haggle anymore?

I'll be selling my '10 S with power pkg. and 26,000 miles for $12K in a week or so.

What I did when shopping around for my 2009 S model is I contacted all the dealers in my area. I asked them for quotes via email only, I refused to come in and "talk" to them until I had something in print! What did then was to bounce prices off one dealer to another to knock down the price as much as possible. What I found was the dealers in the less populated areas (here at least) appeared more willing to do a deal vs the city dealers at the lots that seen more people pass through. When I did go to a dealer I went in prepared, well as prepared as a first time buyer could be. I brought in a number of quotes from other dealers and their own quote beating those prices. All in all I walked out the door about 2 hours later having paid all in tax, title, tag, dealer fees etc.. $13,500 for a brand new 2009 Versa S Hatch.

Another option might be to look at a place like carmax? I just did a search and found a 2010 SL in Atlanta with 9,000 miles on it for just under $15k. I've not used carmax myself so I can't say if they are any good at all but a car with so few miles and that new would still have factory warranty on it.

Aiden80 you did well. A month ago I offered $15200 total for a red Versa S (I asked them to install the spoiler) and they would not do it. I think if I had went up another $300 then maybe... The thing about the SL is that increase in better gas mileage. Over 100000 miles that difference can add up . I will look at Carmax. I haven't worked with them either. And if we travel up to the mountains I will check out dealers there.

Used car prices on small cars are pretty crazy right now. I was on autotrader last night and a dealership (small town GM dealership) was trying to sell an 07 Versa S for $17,900. It didn't cost that much new. Maybe the dealerships aren't dealing that much right now unless maybe to move the '11's at the end of the model year.

Good luck. Be patient for a good deal.

Man, that V looks better than brand new! Nice detail job. A nice 2 year old car with low miles that gets good mileage for $12k. Should sell easy. That's exactly the type of car I will be looking for in 2 years when my youngest starts driving.
