hey just wonderin what u guys thought would be a good horsepower goal for a KA24DE starting out. I just bought the car a few weeks ago and know nothing just yet about the engine. I'm lookin to do drifting for fun right now but soon to hopefully become professional. What are some reasonable horsepower goals for a guy with a limited income?

170 at the wheel is pretty impressive for a naturally aspirated KA24DE. I would recommend staying stock and saving for a while, and then either turboing the KA, or swapping in another motor. It takes alot of money to get power out of a naturally aspirated set up.

what he said^

200whp seems to be the holy grail for your average ka24de guy who wants to remain na. there are a lot of claims and some sketchy dyno sheets floating around, but no real proof anyone has achieved it on a moderate build.

its surely possible but the costs and downsides involved outweigh the benefits.

ka-t or swap for your power goals above that level. search for more info!

neverlift is basicaly right. but if your 24de is stock you might want a bit more kicking out of it just to make shure its their. the 24de starts at about 155 hp. i do i little bit drifting my self just for fun but that stock engine just doesnt do it sometimes. unless its wet, witch by the way is a good time to practice control in a big black top parking lot, then 155 horses is more than enough. i would say that puting the engine up to the 180-200 mark is plenty to go do some real ****. *just a tip: lower the car, it will make a big difference in the handling, also go w/ a limited slip diff. (lsd). and rig up ur ebrake so it wont lock > i did that today, its pritty cool. well back on track! if you have too much power it will actualy be harder for you to control. just think of having the hulk under you car.good luck w/ your career.

200 WHP and 200LB/FT wheel torque is realistic for a streetable KA.

I've proven that 180WHP and 180 LB/ft of torque is achievable with $1000.00 in modification. So for a $1000 bucks thats good numbers since it cost more to swap an SRdet and make the same wheel HP at 7PSI.....

155 hp is more than enough to drift weather or not its on wet or dry pavement.
