Rearview Camera [First Post]

Hey guys,

I just signed up here and can't wait to check out what you all have to say. But first, a question. I have a 2010 Altima Coupe 3.5SR, without the tech package (Canadian car). It is my understanding that the 2011 model comes standard with the rearview backup camera in this model. Would I be able to buy the camera and 'plug and play' with my existing setup? My guess is that if the 2011 version has it, all the wiring must already be in place.

The OEM Nissan camera is built into the trunk. So you would have to replace the entire trunk lid to have it look like that.

But I have no clue if it comes with all the wiring to extend it to a head unit. It's a lot easier and practical to go with an after market camera.

I am in the same situation OP... I got a '10 2.5 SL without tech and I was hoping to just buy the rear view camera component but no one has actually tried to do such project... it might be expensive... your alternative would be to get parking sensor rather than camera.

You wouldn't have to replace the entire trunk lid, just the finisher where the tag lights are. If you took the piece off and the extra wire harness was there then it would probably just need the oem camera. Alternatively if someone can figure out which pins on the back of the head unit are for the camera in the fsm you could check the harness there too.
