What makes these switches go bad? Is it just over time? Can they be refurbed? Does anyone have any to sell?

I've never taken a look at them up close, but maybe the contacts just need to be cleaned?

I'd imagine that as a last resort, the assembly could be replaced with a plate and a couple of standard rocker switches.

honestly, its a pretty crappy design, I've pulled mine apart before when it stopped working and it was all becuase the plastic pieces tend to wear down inside. I just reversed some of the parts (use the switch only to raise the window, not lower, so it's working pretty decently right now. I think if you pull it apart you'll see what I mean, all the pieces wear to the point that they dont make proper contact.

I took it apart at lunch and you're right, it's faily simplistic. I imagine it would be easy to replicate one using stuff from Radio Shack. I fiddled with it a bit and now it works better but I'm sure it will fail again.

If I replace it I'll post notes and pics.

Believe it or not I just purchased one from the dealer brand new for about $35.00 . I had repaired my original it works fine but I wanted one for a spare. Call Nissan there might still be a few in the system. Good luck

Cool beans, I'll give them a call Monday. It's amazing I put up with it not working well when all I had to do was take it apart and "adjust" it and now it works well. I'd like to have a spare myself.

exactly the route I took, although after about 18 months I need to adjust it a bit again for better contact.
