My rear window motor on the driver side of '95 J30 won't stop after it completely roll up if the switch is still depressed. The roll down operation works fine. Can any one tell me what is wrong and what part I need to replace? Thanks

Are you saying that if you contintue to hold the button down, after the window is fully closed, it still tries to close it?

Just trying to figure out exactly what the problem is

Yes, it still try to close if the button is depressed after the window is fully closed. Probably the motor try to drive the cable on the regulator but since the window is already fully closed so the motor's gears are slipped and make loud noise.

im having the same problem with my front passenger window. i believe its a problem with the window regulator. with the j30's, im pretty sure the regulator and motor is one whole peice, so you would have to replace the whole thing. ive seen them on ebay for like 80 bux a pop. but im sure u could go to a junk yard and get them cheaper.

Yeah, keep us posted about the problem, seems like a common one with the J, and it would be nice to have a diagnosis for other owners!

Most of the window motors have a temperature overload switch that opens when the motor is on but not moving because it's all up or all down -yet it is drawing mucho current and heating up that switch. The switch should then open and stop the motor. So it's likely arced together or overheated and bent into the always closed position. Most mechs won't go into the motor itself. I have jumpered a few of those switches in the motors that opened too soon - like before the window ever got up or down.

My left rear does the same thing, I rarely have backseaters so I just keep it shut off.

I have a 1993 J30 whose rear driver's window was also "possessed", closing as soon as the master remote switch was released. I solved the problem by replacing the driver’s master control switch panel found on E-bay. The control panel can be changed out without removing the door panel. Just be careful not to chip the wood finish on the control panel!

Good luck,Terry
