Rear window defrost

Hey peeps.
I went to use the rear defrost to clear up my side mirrors and it lights up momentarily then goes out :gotme
Anybody ever dealt with that issue ?

LOL Seems it happens when its near freezing.
Stayed on fine yesterday afternoon but this morning it wont engage.. classic !! :rotfl

Your rear defrost clears up the door mirrors attached to the front driver door and passenger door? Mine never has.

I did once have an issue with the rear window defroster. I had to find and re-solder the wire where it broke very carefully.

yeppers.
When working it defrost the mirrors as well.
As it seems to be temp related it may very well be a cold solder prob.
It does light the button up momentarily. Then turns right back off.
When its below 40/45 F that is.

I would have to guess the fault would be in the time control module for the defroster off memory... the climate control module where the button is doesn't do any of the actual control functions on the J, it's bus-connected to a series of other modules... I think I remember a specific one for defrost.

I feel your pain but in a different way. Mine works, but takes almost an hour to clear. By that time I'm at my destination...

That's weird.. must be a low power thing.
When mine worked it defrosted the rear window and mirrors in 5 to 10 minutes.
