It's no problem.

90% of cars have rear defrosters now, and most of those are tinted.

REMOVING the tint on a rear defroster window is a PITA though.

oh, PITA??? I need to replace the rear tint in the new 240 I am buying. I hope there is a type of liquid I can buy or a heat gun might do it.

Ya taking off the rear tint is really a pain. I tried taking it off carefully trying to keep the defrosters but its impossible.

So now i got a bunch of small sractches (not noticeable tho) and no defrosters in the back.

but now i can actually SEE through my rearview mirror.

As for the defrosters+tint in the back, ive been told that he has had the tint for 9 yrs and no prob with the tint and the defrosters.

AZ's right on, the problem is removal. Almost anything you use to remove it will also be removng the defroster as it's a layer of clear adhesive with the defrost wires sandwiched to the window.

The only suggestion I can give is try to find the seam in the middle of the window and remove it towards the edges. The defroster "layer" has no seam and should only come up from the edge. Make sense?

Ammonia works but makes your car smell like cat piss.

Just pay a shop to do it right.
