Ok, my passenger rear wheel bearing is bad, and I'm trying to figure out if I can replace it on my own. If I buy something like the "Nissan Rear Wheel Bearing" on

http://www.pdm-racing.com/prod....html

Can i just unbolt the 4 bolts on my spindle/hub and replace that unit?

OR, do i need to press in the part with the wheel lugs on it (rear wheel hub on PDM page). That being true, I would also need to press it out of the old bearing as well.

I'm just looking for the easiest way to do this. I can get to a press, but I can't work on the car near the press, so I'd have to get a drive from someone.

Just looking for a bit of insight. thanks.

Ok, I see now how things go togther.

Is It possible to unbolt the axle from the diff, bend it down via the CV joints, then pop the end of the axle out of the wheel hub? (Basically remove the axle without removing anything else)

This way, I wouldn't have to remove the hub (more rusted small bolts) in order to get access to the back of the hub to remove the bolts that hold in the wheel bearing.

anybody?

bolts that hold in the wheel bearing huh? you should jsut be able to press the bearings out. dont beat the new ones in or you'll regret it. actually, you can beat them in, just be real real careful

You know the bearing is bad if (with car up on lift) you spin the wheel and it makes a growling kind of sound. Comparing to a good one where you only hear the brakes rubbing a bit, and it's quite obvious.

Fatboy, I found out the bearing unit bolts to the main unit with 4 bolts by consulting the FSM. You have to press out the hub (that has the wheel lugs) that bolts to the wheel. But the bearing itself (with lugs) can be removed from the car without pressing.

And, to use the bump......

ANYBODY WHO HAS DONE AN LSD SWAP etc,...... can you tell me if you can remove the half-shafts (drive shafts that go to the wheel) without removing anything else like the diff or suspension arms? thanks.
