Rear View Monitor Wanted - PLEEZE HELP!

Hey all,

Proud new owner of two pre-owned 2008 & 2009 Pathy SE's - the 08 has the rear-view monitor backup camera installed and I'd like to get one put on the 09 (FYI it has the display screen on the dash - I've been told that its needed). Preety much the exact same vehicles, minus the backup camera system.

First called my local dealer to inquire, and they can't give me a definitive answer if they can do it or not.

Then called Nissan and the barely-English-speaking CS rep tells me they actually do have a part # for the parts, but can't give me a part number because I'm not a dealer! WTF!

Can somebody PAHLEEZE tell me if the rear-view monitor can be installed on my 09, and how to go about getting my dealer up to speed on the process? Secondly, anybody have it done and what was your approx cost and any issues you had?

should be possible, also would depend on the model you have and the sound options.
Base audio, mid audio, bose with navi, bose without...

But from what I can tell you would need the AV control Unit, Rear View Camera Control unit, and the rearview camera. Knowing how expensive dealerships are, you might be better off buying an aftermarket reverse camera.

THX MUCH for the reply! I decided to go aftermarket and purchase a unit. My question to that is, do the Pathys already have the wiring harness for the camera installed? If so, can I hook the camera into this wiring and have it display on my dash visual unit (no nav, mid sound)? My wife's '08 has the backup system and other than the camera itself her diplay is exactly the same as mine. Hope you can help!

Have a look in the FSM. Today's FSMs are REALLY REALLY good on electrical stuff. My '72 240Z FSM had I think three pages of schematic,
tiny lines no more than 3/32 apart. I just looked at the '08 FSM, and there's 439 pages just on audio, video, and nav. Also, you can always
compare to the '08. Trace the wire from its camera. The connector may be a problem If you were to go Nissan, I'd be looking for a
wreck.

Thx Chuck, I was trying to avoid pulling off the rear deck lid cover if I don't have to/AKA if someone already accomplished what I inquired on doing. But I guess either no one tried or isn't inclined to help in the discussion. THX for your help tho!!!!
