I would suggest a heat gun, but I have NO experience in this one. Maybe a heat gun and some goo-b-gone?

I wanna keep the original mirror button on the windshield. The mirror mount has a tiny hole facing the windshield, and I have no idea if it has a screw inside or whether it's a release pin or something...

This link tells you how to INSTALL a mirror, but I think it has a lot of the information you are looking for.

http://idid.essortment.com/howtoinstallr_rlbd.htm

Hope this helps.

It says "heat and humidity". I was thinking of placing a trivet on the dashboard, and a pot of boiling water on the trivet to turn the car into a sauna, and remove the adhesive for the mirror (best to do it during the day, to get the added benefit of the sunlight). Just thoughts.

Removing a mirror mounting plate is simple; unscrew the mirrior from the shoe, and remove the shoe with a pair of channelocks (twisting motion). The new mirrior will include a new shoe and glue. The glue takes several hours to cure, allow 24 hours. Does this help?

I wish it was as simple as unscrewing it from the bottom like the replacement mirror that I've purchased, but the the hole on the mount is facing the windshield and I think that it's a release mechanism. Here's what I found for the Altima http://www.courtesyparts.com/i....htmlI went to the dealer today, and even the people working there didn't know how to remove it lol I'm gonna see their service guy tomorrow morning...

the only problem with the rear view mirror. is that, you basicly can see everything from the back with the standard one already. the problem is not the mirror, but our rear pillar which are so freaking huge. >_< i have check out some longer boardway mirror in the car, and it just doesnt help.

According to the FSM:

"Slide the inside mirror upward, and then remove the inside mirror from the mirror base.Caution:- Do not use excessive force to remove the inside mirror because it is inserted tightly into the mirror base.- Do not reuse the inside mirror disassembled from mirror base."

Lots of help isn't it?

Actually, it is pretty easy to remove, I removed mine when tinting the windshield. There should be a small hole at the base, just put inside a small screwdriver and press. Then slide the mirror upward.

Thx bud! I gave it one more shot and managed to get it off All I needed was a lil elbow grease! After it came off, my screwdriver went flying lol I'm glad it didn't hit the windshield

What a good website to get a headlight dimming rear view? Ya know the kind that dims the headlights of cars behind you. The owner's manual says to adjust the tilt, but i would rather just have a mirror that does it automatically

I think people have already given you some ideas of how to remove. I used to install auto glass and I have a bunch of specialty tools that help in that process. I haven't looked at what kind of mirror mount the versa has. After checking it out I will let you know the best tool or method I suggest in removing the mirror.

The other thing is that if you replace the mirror, the new one needs to fit the same size button or else you will have to remove the button also and replace it with the correct size button.

http://www.autoanything.com has some decently priced stuff. K&N filters are on sale for the Versa at 35.00 free S&H. I already know how to R2 the mirror, this is the info I was looking for.
