The rear-view mirror auto-dimmer is set automatically turn on when the car is started. Is there any way to have this be automatically set to off when the car is started?

What happens if you turn it off when the key is in and turn off the key and cycle the key again?? Im wondering if it sets it to your key memory or not, but I bet you already tried this.

This is one of the pet peeves I had with my 1995 Q45! On that car, a simple two-position rocker switch would have been much better than having two switches up there - one to enable the dimmer and the other to disable it! The darn thing reset to Auto-dim whenever the car was turned off!

Eventually, I got into the habit (but still swore at it sometimes) of reaching up whenever I started the car and disabling the auto-dimmer. Sad to see that they have not changed this yet!

Sometimes, too much electronics hand-holding is a dumb thing to do! Similar example ... a rotary tuning knob is so much easier to use than up and down scan/tune switches (which just don't move fast enough!)

Luckily, on my 2003 M45, I did not get the fancy electronics and convenience packages. So, I have an old-fashioned mechanical "flip the mirror" up dimmer. Much better solution!
