I was told by the dealership that you can add a rear vent shade like in the I30/Bmw 7 Series to the M.I was curious has anyone done this to their M after? or is it something that comes from the factory like that?I really want to get a M35 but I also love the vent shade on my I30

Thanks

i dont have one..yet. But i went and drove an '09 at the dealership and the salesman said that it was available on the "premium package" which includes the tech package and advance tech package

so i guess a better question is what years have them?

It was available as early as 06 as well - but only on the premium package (I believe you did not have the option to buy it by itself). My '06 premium pkg has it: it is nice in the summer time but doesn't get much use in the winter...

Premiums were hard to find, unsure if the production numbers went up in later years....

Most use it sees is the 10 minute nap in the summer time on the way back to the office after lunch... typically the guys riding in the pack tilt out the reclinable seats and snooze as I 'limo' them back to work....

If it is available as a factory option then Infiniti is doing a pretty good job of keeping it a secret. I don't see it listed anywhere on the Infiniti USA website. I asked the service manager at my Infiniti shop if they could add the rear sunshade and got a flat "no" which is very unusual for them.

I have it...its nice to keep the car cooler on sunny days because of the low angle on the rear window. I wish there was a way to get a nice looking side shade in the back. Its the only thing that makes my daughter ornery.

On the 2006 cars you couldn't get the rear shade nor the reclining rear seats on the sport model. I think it's the same case for the later years.

Correct! The rear shades were included as part of the Infiniti Mobile Entertainment package (a.k.a Premium package) and have never been available with the Sport package.

The power rear sunshades cannot be added as an accessory. Maybe there are some aftermarket solutions, but not as a factory accessory.

Are we talking about a rear VENT shade or a rear WINDOOW shade? I've never seen a factory rear VENT shade on an M35/M45/Q45.

Hi There,

Does anyone have a video of the actual rear sun shade on the M35 while operating? Also, has anyone found a good suction cup sunshade for the rear window or side back windows? I don't want to put tints on my car, but some shades might help. Any suggestions?

Thanks, JM

WHEN I GOT M 2008 INFINITI M I WAS TOLD I COULD GET THE REAR SHADE FOR THE BACK WINDOW BUT THAT WAS PART OF THE PKG ( 4GOT WHICH 0NE) THAT INCLUDED ALL THAT JAZZY CRAP IN THE BACK. LIKE TILT AND HEATED REAR SEATS ETC FOR A HELL OF A LOT MORE $$$$$ AND I WAS ALREADY PUSHING NEAR 60K SO I BAILED . SO I WOULD SAY ITS AVAILABLE BUT GOOD LUCK GETTING IT W/O THE PKG. I ASKED MY DEALER FOR THE SHADE ON MY LAST VISIT AND HE LOOKED AT ME LIKED I ASKED HIM IF I COULD SLEEP WITH HIS DOG OR SOMETHING . SO IS THE BIG DEAL. PKG OR NOTHING IT SEEMS BUT THATS REALLY DIRTY I THINK.

Thanks Ron! It's probably the factory installed one that comes with the "premium package", the $9,650 package. It doesn't look like there is any way that we will get the actual Infiniti rear-shade installed any other way. I found these aftermarket shades, what do you guys think?

Its not electric but might work okay if you leave it up.

GEEZ LOUISE MACH 5871 thats not electric (of course u know that) but i guess beggars cant b choosy but . then again a electric one will proably cost as much as that "premium pkg" would have cost with the wires and all. But its so cool .

The factory vent shade items could probably be added, but a lot of the interior of the car would need to be pulled apart. The addition of wiring harnesess will be needed along with the vent shade components. The car would also have to be programmed for the setting in the on screen dash or a switch would need to be added. The parts plus the labor needed to perform this would be ridiculously expensive. The only way to get this done at a reasonable price would be doing it yourself.Either way, the dealer would still have to reprogram the car to accept it.

Bottom line, adding the factory unit is probably out of the question. Even if you had the change to afford this, what dealership tech would be capable of doing it?would have been better to have purchased the car with the option, but we already know this.

you changed your engine air intake. did it make it a different in power , gas, and was it hard. did u do it yourself and if not was it costly . I'm totally looking to do the same thing by using k&n filters etc.
