Hi all, my first post here. I have a 2021 QX80 and have had a recurring issue with lane changes and exits on the highways. I signal lane changes properly, but when I make my move, other drivers behave as if I am wandering out of my lane. I did some research and then figured out that the rear signals on the current gen QX80 are only low on the back bumper. I then looked at the current Armada rear turns and they are right where you'd expect - up higher near the brake lights. I suspect that other drivers are not seeing my back turn signals.

Have any other current gen QX80 owners experienced this?

The previous gen QX80 had rear turn signals up where you'd expect them. Not sure what Nissan was thinking with screwing up the placement on the current QX80, but leaving it right with the Armada.

I have recently bought a 2021 QX80 and realized this design flaw. Have you found a “fix” for this flaw? I called my dealership and they said there is not a manufacturer fix for it but I may try aftermarket.

How about using a 4-pin trailer converter to flash the brake lamp along with the amber turn?

I bought some LED replacement rear turn signal "bulbs" that the seller claims are 500% brighter than the stock incandescents. They sure look 5x brighter at night. No additional wiring required - just plug and play. This is not a solution IMHO, just a $25 workaround.

I can try to PM you short videos of side by side LED vs. incandescent comparisons during the day and at night.

BTW, it's been 4 months since I wrote the NTSB and ...crickets. I'm sure they will respond any year now.

Interesting thought, but I would be concerned about impacting the function/effectiveness of the brake lights. I'd rather have other drivers not notice my turn signal vs. not noticing my brake lights.

It would just work like a trailer brake lamp, when the brakes and turn are applied at the same time the lamp on the turn side blinks, the lamp on the no-turn side is solid. That's why you use a converter and not just a couple of diodes.

StefanoSoTx did you ever come up with a fix for this flaw? I purchased a ‘21 QX80 for my wife about 6 months ago and have noticed the same frustrations. I have looked at trying to hide some LED strips somewhere higher but want to keep it as oem as possible.
