pretty sure you need to remove them both. I wlll be doing the license plate lights soon when I install a wireless back-up camera, but not sure if I would see any real improvement for the turn signals since they have a colored lenses.. I have done all the interior lights (except for footwell lights) and the running lights too. Great improvement for very little coin or clock consumption.
