ok folks..here'e the deal..i dropped my car on coilovers and got rear camber arms, and got an alignment. and found my rear toe to be -0.42" left rear and -.34" right rear.now I just got my adjustable rear toe arms and need to know how much to adjust them, I know they need to be longer then my oem toe arms but by how much exactly?

1989 240sx se

what i need to know is how my rear toe is measured??

-is the 0.42" the difference between the most frontward edge of the rim and the most rearward edge of the rim??

-or is it the difference between the center of the rim to the most frontward edge..

-or is adjustment gonna be a ratio of the measured toe because the rear toe arm is 2/3 the way fron the rim centerline to the most rearward edge of the rim?

or is the 0.42" exactly the amount I need to lengthen the toe arm to get 0 toe

the reason why i'm asking this is that I need to install these myself because the nearest alingment shop is 2 hours drive away, and with that kinda rear toe I don't wanna drive on my brand new rubber that far again.

toe is the difference between the center line of the front of the tires to the back of the tires. In other words take a tape measure and center it in the middle of the tire tread, stretch the tape to the otherside of the car and place it in the exact same spot on the other tire. Write down that measurement. Now go to the back of the tires and measure in the same spot as you did in front of the tire. Write down that measurement. Now do the math, deduct the lower number from the larger number this will give you your total toe. If the higher number was at the rear of the tires, it is toed in. If the higher number was at the front of the tires, it is toed out.

your spec is .020 to .177" in [.5 to 4.5mm] toed in.

by the way...if you are after performance, having 0 rear toe would help the car rotate but not be so tail happy as with all the toe out you have now.

yeah i'm not big on tail happy cars at highway speeds...especially in the wet...the alignment I'm going for is -1.3 camber front -1.1 rear with zero toe all around...... my caster and thrust angles aren't adjustable as yet so i'll deal with those when i have the parts.
