I have an 07 g35 with 17k miles on it... When I had 5k miles on my car I was rear ended.. I had the car repaired at almost $18,000 worth of damage.. Since then I have had to replace my rear tires (bridgestone potenza re050a)every 4-5 thousand miles.. No one can seem to figure out what the problem is and infinity basically just blamed it on my driving.. However despite popular belief by all the people who havnt helped me I don't even drive my car hard.. I don't know what to do.. I can't afford to replace my rear tires so often.. I'm still on the same fronts from when I bought the car.. Anyone ever heard of this happening? Or have any idea why? Let me know please

What does the wear pattern look like ?What is the wear rating on the tires? Can you feel or see featheringIf you feel the surface side to side does your hand slide one way and grab the other ?Or take the car to a good alignment shop and get it at least checked for 4 wheel alignment.

the tires get smooth.. From the outside in.. I've gotten an alignment about 1500 miles ago and every other time I've changed the tires.... And how do I figure out the wear rating? In sure that they are made to last more than 5k miles

When the outside wears, does the inside have plenty of tread left?

Sounds like you have some camber issues or the chassis of the car is skewed and causing it to "crab".

yes the tires are wearing from the outside toward the inside.. And the drivers side tire wears faster than the passenger

Welcome! Please posts pics of your ride!

Def. sounds like you need an alignment. That, or someone is stealing your car every night and taking it to the strip and then returning it w/o you knowing it. (LOL)

With a serious $18k in repairs didn't you have a paid independent engineer evaluate the repairs made before you signed off on vehicle?

What is rear thrust angle and all alignment readings? How does that compare with the brand new alignment you had before the accident?

Since shops are paid by insurance they try to please the payer not the owner who doesn't usually have a clue.

When you are driving down the road, is your steering wheel a bit off center?

I would try another alignment shop or take it into Infiniti to get a look at it. Something with the frame must be off.

The RE050As are very soft tires. They have a treadware rating of 140. The other 4 competitor are all in the 280 range. While it is true that the rating vary significantly from manufacturer to manufacturer, the Bridgestones are one of the softest (and one of the stickiest!!!).

Feathering on the outer should is typical for these tires and cars. I believe alot of it comes from poor driving habits (not blaming you, just most people).

The frame probably needs to be looked at. Also, many alignment shops aren't familiar with the intricasies of high performance suspension. One of them that I've been going to for years argued with me about camber adjuster they installed on my old I30. I finally had to tell the tech that the car was lowered and the camber adjusters were aftermarket

I'm also wondering if your Differential is working correctly. It might be giving an extreme bias to one wheel over the other.

Are you in the habit of turning VDC off when you drive? Allowing the tires to slip will definately wear them out quicker (4-5k is extreme though).

Take it to a body shop. Preferably one with a state of the art frame rack. Have them double check the frame specs. If its off, call both the body shop who performed the work and the insurance company who paid for it.

Likely, you'll want to give the original body shop another opportunity to repair it as it is their responsibility to make sure the work was done right the first time. The insurance company may get involved if they provided some kind of guarantee on the work. Many insurance companies do if you used one of their preferred shops and in some cases, may guarantee it for other reasons as well (use of aftermarket or recycled parts or if the shop come to an agreed cost of repairs with the insurance). If there is a guarantee provided by the insurance, you may be able to take it to a different shop and the insurance company will take care of it and bill the prior body shop. However, they may ask that you try and give the original shop the opportunity to remedy the situation.

An alignment may be fine under a static load, but may have issues while driving if the frame is not in spec.

all the tires that you buy for an infinti are a softer compound than others. they usually wear out alot faster than others.

It's not just Infiniti. It's just about any high performance tire. Stickiness and softness go hand in hand.

The Potenzas (though great tires IMO) are some of the softest I've encountered. I also used the Dunlop FM901s and they were both soft and had NO handling capabilities. What a waste of $500 (On the I30).

The bridgestones aren't POSs. They just shouldn't have been used on the G. I loved them on my I30. I bought them used and got over 20k out of them. Couldn't go sideways in that car if my life depended on it.

You should have some one drive your car and you drive another car behind it. see if the car drives really stright or if it goes to one side or the other from the rear.

This is how my grandfather taught me how to check my jeep for frame damage before i bought it!

This might give you some type of idea if it has frame damage!

First, After doing extensive research on tires and what to buy on my vehicles including my new G... I agree, you should start buying different tires* - I recommend Ultra high Performance All Season tires - they last longer than summer tires* --- go to Tirerack.com and checkout what they have in your size, in that category. If you must go for summer tires - try Kumhos or Summitomos. --- of course, check all mechanics - but it seems like you've exhausted that option.

The bridgstone RE050A's that come stock on the G-sport models are not POS* --- they are very good tires [but yes, there are better].

For that matter - lets shed some light* ---instead of stating that the stock tires are POS.

ALL OEM TIRES ARE OVERPRICED -contracts are made between tire manufacturers and ALL automakers to ensure their recommend premium priced oem tires to make them $$......Just look at the Eagle RSA's ... they must be one of the poorest performing - loud tires - Goodyear makes - yet it is as expensive as their higher rated tires. --- why? Cuz of the pre-existing contracts made by Goodyear and other automakers.
