Hey guys,

Got this rear sway bar installed on my 06 Hatch.

It's incredible the difference it's made, I have to REALLY try to get it to understeer, it's quite neutral now and you wouldn't be able to pick the FWD base. Before it would understeer quite cronically. I'm quite an enthusiastic driver/motorsport fan and actually plan on taking my car to the track some time in the future

As you may spot my R6 in the background of the photo

I'm on standard everything else but now I'll probably get some stiffer springs maybe 1/2" lower and lightweight 16's with some lower profile tyres.

The Australian ones come with 55 series Toyo Tyres and really cheap bottom line ones, I think you guys get Continentals, which I am led to believe is a pretty good brand?

Cheers,

I'd love to get a rear sway bar. Had one put on my sebring convertible and it made the car near neutral as well. ALl lowering springs did to it was make it ride hard.

I'm happy to see Whiteline offering a sway bar for Tiida/Versas.. They're a great company and I've had nothing but great results with their products on my GT4.

Have they mentioned anything about releasing in the USA?

See here:http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question432.htm

Typically aftermarket swaybars are thicker, which makes the bar stiffer than the stock one, and sometimes they offer adjustability (which also affects stiffness) by having different holes at the ends where you attach the bar to the link.

I forgot to mention I also had a camber kit installed with ¾ degree negative camber, works well as a whole package.

Benztech – It’s a Versa specific bar, mine is the first in the world I’m guessing to have a rear sway bar and was developed on my car, I don’t see why Whiteline can’t ship over to U.S, from memory it’s around AU$250 supply alone, if a few people are interested I can ask them about a group buy and bulk shipping.

Clipsed – I paid much less since I work around the corner and I loaned them my car for development.

milk114 – In a nutshell a rear sway bar stops body roll. It is a horizontal ‘torsional’ spring.

Turbo4wd – Correct, mine has two setting soft and hard. ATM it’s on soft, if I put it to hard I would dare say it may oversteer.

Cyclonicks – A little off topic now, but here’s the R6 : http://i74.photobucket.com/alb...6.jpg

They're probably going to refer you to one of their distributors here in the US to start something up. They did this years ago with our GT4 group buy. At the time we went through Mofugas Motorsports (which I believe has since closed up shop).

Call ME ignorant, but what exactly is the point of lowering 1/2 inch? That seems like such a small amount that it wouldn't be visually noticeable. I have no idea what it would do for handling, or even if that's why you would lower it anyway.

Lowering the car reduce the center of gravity and at higher speeds reduces the amount of lift generated under the car. The center of mass is probably around 10" above the axles. If you lower the car 0.5", you've reduce the center of gravity by about 5%. This has a noticeable impact on body roll. The more body roll you have, the less weight transfer that occurs when cornering. You want the cars weight distributed as equally on all four wheels to get the most grip out of the tires and make the best use of the suspension.

On the other hand, you now have 1/2" less ground clearance. This is needed for easy entry and exit into the vehicle. The height gives you a better view of the road. The height allows you to avoid objects on the ground... espcially if you happen to go off road, either on purpose or attmepting ot avoid an accident.

Cheers motoguy.

I've opted for a 1" lowering spring from a reputable place in Australia with a 30% increase in spring rate.

Should see some good results in further decreased body roll and better dampening.

why didnt you just get the eibachs or tanabes even though they are 1.4, 30% increase is a lot, the eibachs and tanabes are only 5%

Yes we get Continentals,But do you really need a rear sway bar in the versa.I found it to be very tight in the corners with no sway at all,Other cars i have driven could use one on both ends.
