i,m getting a knocking noise from the back of my 95 240sx. so i jacked the back up and check it out. the only thing the i see that can move is the rear suspension member. while my car is on jack stands (at the frame)with the suspension hanging. i can jack up the rear suspensoin member about 2" and then when i let the jack down fast it drops and makes a knocking sound. the question is. Is the suspension member suppose to move that much and if not i guess i would have to change the 4 bushing that hold the member in but what are they called (mybook does not list them). and if i dont have to change them then what do i do to fix the problem.

the suspension memebr that is bolted to the unibody of the car should not move or knock when shifted. They wount be called either subframe mount bushings or suspension cradle mount mount bushings.

let me check with our parts department tomorrow to verify that statement. I have replaced some of the subframe mounts before on the Z. I dont see why they wouldnt offer them for the 240. I wil let you know tomorrow about this time what i find out.

ok checked it out yesterday and looked at the parts picture for your suspension. looks like 2 of them are available seperatly but the other 2 are incorperated in the subframe assembly. I did not get the part numbers since it has multiple part numbers for that year. depends on production date and trim level[like SE or not].

Ok I will check it out monday am and get you some numbers. Does it move on all 4 mounts or just 2 of them. It seems odd to me they only offer 2 so thats why I ask if your sure it is all 4 loose. But you are right it would be pointless to just do 2 if its moving on all 4.

ok heres the numbers. these are not the entire bushing but a washer with a rubber insultor. this make take up the travel of the member you are talking about.

55475-60U00 they are 8.15 each list you need 2.
