Rear suspension problem

I just replaced the struts on my 2000 LE Maxima. When I go through or over a dip or hole in the road a loud bang noise comes the rear wheel area. It sounds like the strut tops out or something. Could this be a problem with the trailer control bar system? Anyone out there with something like this?
