I asked this question about a month ago, but what can I do about a bent subframe? I had a small drift accident that bent my right rear A-arm and may have bent my subframe. I had a machine shop straighten the arm, but i am still at .5 positive camber. I want my wheel to be back like stock, but there is no adjustment for rear camber. If I put a new OEM A-arm on my car, is the a chance that it will be right, as the machine shop may not have got my arm perfect. It did not perfeclyline up and needed some muscling and bending of the tabs to install. Also, the upper lip on the bracket is broke. I am thalking about the two ears that are welded to the subframe that the A-arm bolts to. I can get a Q45 or Z32 rear suspension complete for the same cost as another 240 unit. Would I be better to take this opportunity to upgrade, and how hard would it be? Would I see any benefit other than bigger brakes? I just want my car to be the same as before. i know that I need new shocks, so when I fix the problem, I will install a spring and shock kit.
Here are the symptoms I have now: In a right turn which loads up the good side, I have almost normal handling, but is a little twitchy at higher speeds. I can feel every imperfection in the road, and it feels like it could break loose at any time.In a left turn, loading up the broken side, it feels very strange, like a 1970 Caprice. It oversteers easily, and just a slight application of throttle spins the tire. At faster speeds, the car is just scary. It wanders around the road and small bumps really unsettle the car.
I need to fix this problem because I really want to keep my car. I cannot live with Cavaliers out running me on MY back roads. Please help!
