Rear sun shade

Well, my sunshade motor in my 1999 Q45t does not work. Dealer told me that thet would have to replace the whole thing (sun shade, motor...etc) they quoted me $1400. Although it is cool and help to keep the car cool to me it's not worth the money. Has anybody else have this problem? And can I just replace the motor since nothing is wrong with the sunshade?

Motor should generate some noise when switch is activated. Assume you checked fuse? Checked voltage at motor?

If no noise, then new motor requred. Check Joe for new one, but don't know if it available separately.

the motors on those if they are bad you don't here it run. check fuses and relay on ot. try to hot wire it to make it run. if if does not ru. the motors on those should be like for your power windows. and i have cleaned it out and make it work. just try not to use more often that ussual

Its not a complicated fix just depends how mcuh money vs effort you want to put forth.

The rear sunshade motor on my Q45T makes a clunking noise when activated. I never bring it up as I have no use for it.

i'm having the same problem with my rear sunshade. the switch works, the motor works, but the shade will not go down. it just spins and sounds like a buzzsaw. could it be a stripped gear? how do you go about replacing this?

Check to see if your extendable scissor mechanism is not jamming.
