Is this a job worth trying to do at home? I've read the threads; but there's not much detail.

Looks like it's best to keep the diff attached and drop the sub-frame.. and it looks like about 4 mounting points for the sub-frame.

On another note, I've been trying to break loose the wheel nut and it just won't go. any ideas?

thanks,

(ps--just had this car for about 3 months and a new driver (8 mos w/lic) creamed me. ) Unfortunately, even with pics, they claim he had the right of way.

oh well...

You remove the wheels, exhaust, then drive shaft, then release the top nuts on shock spring seat. Need car on a rack lift and and transmission /flat jack, 2 people ......obviously emergency and brake line, Abs sensor wires........etc.

2 of us replaced a rear subframe and diff in 5 hours on my Q.......just marked all eccentric locations [toe and camber].

After the change all the camber adjustment came back CENTERED.....the mounting tabs were bent on subframe from years and miles not hitting anything.

Q45tech,thx for your reply--i read your post earlier. Can it be done with the car up on stands and then use the floor jack to drop the diff/subfrm?

also, do you need to remove the leading pads(55452/1M), or does the subframe slide out from them?

thanks again, you guys are great.
