is it absolutely necessary to remove the stock bose sub when installing an aftermarket sub in the trunk? i had everything ripped out to run the power and rca wires from the front to back and was trying to remove the rear shelf to get to the sub but after getting the arm rest out and obviously the rear seat cushion...and after the c-pillar was taken out..i still could not get the shelf to come loose. I could not get the trunk access thing separate from in between the seats. I figured that you really didnt have to take out the seats to get the shelf out. i unbolted the seat belts..and took out the plastic tabs from behind the seats from inside the car and also the trunk has been completely gutted. looked in the FSM..and just gave up.

I know that if you take out the bose sub..you'll get a better sound out of the aftermarket woofer along with a rattle from the rear deck if you dont put some sort of sound deadener on it. but is it necessary to take out the sub? Its not like anyone is gonna pay for that crap.

The rattles can be mitigated with dynamat as you mentioned...the sub would just be a passive radiator...will not make much difference.

I had a loud sub in my 05 coupe and left the sub in...no issues.
