hey, ok heres the situation:

i own a 90' 240sx hb. my whole rear sub-frame, encluding crossmembers, lower/upper control arms, suspension... all that good stuff needs replacing (lucky me). now i have found a 92' 240sx hb that has 4 wheel steering(hicas). i don't care about the hicas, so can i take everything i need off the 92 240 and will it all fit on my car? i was told that the 'knuckles' (i think thats what they are called, they're what hold the wheels i think) are different though, so can i use the knuckles off my car and the rear sub-frame from the 92? all i need to know is if this will work. thank you!

Everything should work for you car. The only difference is the rear steering rack and the rear toe control arms(tie rods for HICAS). It should still bolt up the same and the other parts are interchangeable(including shocks and springs). I'd say as long as you have your orignal toe control rods in one piece it should be very straight forward.

if you can reuse your lower links from both sides then you could replace those and remove the hicas stuff. and if you do i'd be interested in that hicas rack.

the knuckles are the same. at least the pics in the fsm are the same.

You mean call your nissan service dept? and actaully talk to a Tech? Those guys are impossible to get on the phone, or at least the service managers make it seem that way. After having any service done I prefer to speak with a tech, since the service managers, don't understand what I'm asking when I ask about the service.

They won't know. They just go by what they see in the service manuals. I would ask someone who has direct experience with 240sx's.

SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

good god i'm so happy now. well i got my 92 sub-frame, upper/lower control arms, struts and springs for my 90 240sx the other day, and me and buddy went 7 straight hours today tearing it apart and getting the new stuff in!

as i had mentioned earlier the 92 240 had the 4 wheel steering (hicas), whereas mine did not. there were two differences between the two setups however, but nothing too too major. first, the knuckles weren't compatable, so i swapped the 90 knuckles onto the 92 subframe. and secondly, one of the arms coming off the knuckles had a little bit of a different connection to the sub-frame. on the 90 the sub-frame has a slot type thing the arm slides into and you bolt up, however on the 92 with hicas there was no slot, just one wall with a hole for a screw. so i screwed it in to the one wall nice and tight with a couple washers. it was very solid, the only problem i can see arising from this is it may be hard (if not impossible) to now properly align my rear wheels. however i am running to my mechanic on monday to get him to check it out and see if he can align it for me or not.

so there ya have it. it does work with a bit of mickey mousing, but nothing too serious. and sorry eddiec, i didn't get the hicas equipment, just the parts i needed.
