hey, whats the carbon fibre rear strut shaft bar? Sounds like one of dees' perverted dreams!!! I saw it on the last link you sent me. translates into $200 canadian to me, OUCH! Got the front for $40, why the heck is the rear so much? Damn, perhaps we should try and organise a group buy?

I said the same $hit. I know some ones gotta make a knock off. It just sucks that we have to pay like hundreds more for almost the same thing

I got this out of a website...dunno where but I just copied it and stuck it on here, enjoy:

7/19/99: I lifted the hood and measured off from the front strut bolt (closest to the front of the car) across the engine compatment to the other front strut bolt. I made sure to add 1" to the length, because the pipe will have to be bent to clear the engine. I cut the first piece with a pair of bolt cutters and used a hammer to flatten the ends about 1" in on each end. Then I measured about 6" from the end (on each end) and using a vise, I bent at the 6" mark a 10deg. bend. I took the piece back to the car to measure for fit, and drilled one hole into the flattened ends using a 7/16" drill. For the back, I removed the tower covers inside the trunk area, and measured for length from the two farthest out bolts holding the rear struts. I cut to length and using a hammer I pounded the ends flat about 1" and drilled the holes using a 3/8" bit. I checked for final fit, and called it a day. Next step: Painting the bars.

7/20/99: I used Rustoleum White primer on the tower bars; two coats. After allowing about 12hours of cure time, I applied two coats of Rustoleum Black Gloss. After curing, I assembled the bars to the car and test-drove. The response is definately noticable. I achieved quicker response after lowering the vehicle, but now there is no recoil when the car responds to jerky movement of the wheel. The car just responds right where you want it. Nice.

And was it worth the cash, I really like the front strut brace, and I think its well worth the $40, not sure if the rear isworth $500 (one member located one at that price from enjoku or where ever in a previous post).

thanks

$500? Ow. The Cusco came from Stillen, but any Greddy importer can get it, I believe it was $169. The Nismo bar was ordered through AKT USA by Autoimaging, at the time no one else was bringing Nismo product in so it took 8 weeks to get at a price of $310. Nissan Motorsports or any Nissan dealer can get it now, but shipping is still high.

I did some research last night and came up with one more option. http://www.topspeedpro-one.com They sell a polished rear STB, no prices listed but a local retailer carries their product and they seem affordable.

just got a reply from topspeed, they only have the front brace for $89 USD shipped to toronto (not too bad a price). I replied with, "I have one already, can you locate a rear for the same price range?" Hopefully they will, I'll wait to see and report back

peace

The OBX lower tie bar is totally useless. It braces an area that has zero flex. They made it to compete with honda type bars to look cool. Don't waste your money.

The back end is very solid. I'm running Tokico Blues and Intrax springs with Cusco pillowball upper mounts, Cusco adjustable camber and toe rods, and upper and lower steel subframe collars. I do well at autocross, and it's very easy to control in a drift.

It is hard to find ones for a 97. I want one that sits above, not below. I cant do below cause of my custom Amp mounts.

how are your tokico blues holding up? i just purchased a set about 3 weeks back, after the first weekend, my passenger rear blew, and I checked my "Bounce" on the rear yesturday, and there seems to be more than usual. I hope I didn't blow another one, but I am going to get it checked shortly. I don't drive hard on these shocks, and slow down for all bumps, not sure if its my suspension set up, or the lack of quality on the shocks. Here's my set up, any suggestions/comments that may help my ride, or be the culprit of my problems would be much appreciated.

Sprint springs (about 1.25"-1.5" drop)Blue tokicosHKS rear pillow mountsFront PDM racing strut tower bracefront and rear OE swaysfront cusco camber bolts

I didn't get the rear camber kit (bushings) because my mechanic said the camber was fine. I highly doubt this is the problem, but no one else with a s14 equipped with tokicos seems to have problems, maybe its just me?

thanks for all your help.

[QUOTE]

Sprint springs are your problem. I've had Tokicos for almost 2 years, and have noticed during autocrossing that they tend to bottom out on hard sweeps. Tokico strongly advises against going lower than 1" when using them with lowering springs, and to keep them high rate. Sprint makes a very poor quality performance spring, low rate with a very low drop. (lower than claimed, even if it doesn't look like it). You can easily blow them out by one hard drive on those springs. The rest of your setup is nice, but get some sways soon, you'll love them.

So that rear lower bar on the floor doesn't do anything? Do-luck makes the same bar for the S13....I really wanted a bar like that.

I noticed that the S14 doesn't have speakers in the back...will that bar clear them? And which bar was which?
