You need a 19mm 17mm and 22mm sockets, the 19mm is for the top bolt, 17 mm for the top nut. 22mm is for the bottom bolt. The 17mm socket should be a deeper one cus if not it doesn’t sit completely on the nut, I did it without one tho.

First I barely loosened my lug nuts, just to facilitate removal later on, then lifted the driver side using the lift with the car, set up blocks (I don’t have jack stands) underneath the frame next to where I lifted it. Then did the same one the passenger side, after completely removing the rear tires I was ready for install.

I started on the passenger side, took the bottom nut off. Then, undid the top nut and bolt. Then I got my

jack and lifted the rear axel just enough to make the strut hang loose, then I installed my new strut with the top bolt and nut, and then had to lower and raise the axel just a little bit to get the bottom to slide on, its easiest to leave the strap on the strut during install, you can see it hanging in the pictures. Then just tighten everything up and your good to go on the passenger side

then I moved to the driver side, and a nice thing to know is that the bolts are REVERSE threaded, I found that out after two broken craftsman ratchets, but other then that its just the same process.

Now Brooke (thats her name) is ready for some more fun like this!

That looks like cinder bloc under the truck. Cinder block is not real strongin local compression and can shatter. Some real jackstands would be muchsafer.

And I wonder why they would use a reverse thread on those bolts? Oh well,Sears will replace your ratchet no questions asked.

Also, dunno about the 2000, but the 2001 FSM says replace the nuts andbolts after every disassembly.

they are actually just regular bricks, but the car is sitting on a 2x4 to disperse the weight. kinda like a concrete post. i would rather use jack stands but too poor to buy some. and i donno about the bolts, i haven't read anything saying that. so i hope i'll be alright.
