Sup everyone, I'm planning to purchase a rear strut bar for my 89 240sx hatch. I'm buying it so that my hatch will have the rear rigidity thats inherent on the coupes. Two companies came up, Cusco and JIC. Both the strut bars are close in price (Cusco=$185, JIC=$175 ) so what seperates the two would be of course, performance.

So, give me your opinions and, please don't give me info on what you've heard, I need people who have experience with either of these name brands to respond. Oh, and if you know of any other rear strut bar that is around the same price and quality, by all means name it, I'd hate to limit my options.

Also, does the rear tend to brake loose when you have only a rear strut bar, not that that would neccessarily be a bad thing :rolleyes , but the information would come in handy on rainy days. Thanks for reading and I'm looking forward to your replies.

well first off i would say that the addition of the rear strut bar will make it easier to break traction. it is nothing extrememly significant but you will feel it a little bit.well i do have a s14 and i have a cusco bar in the back and i must say it is quite beefy and well built.if i had the s13 hatch i would get that cusco triangle shaped bar for the rear. it looks much better than an ordinary bar.

I bought the cheapy Ebay bar. 2 psot and metal you save 150 bucks just by adjusting it to the right lenght workd great and I can feel the differance. But I know you want name brand so go with either one. Because honestly that bar doesnt make that much difference.

Actually while the cheap ebay one does do about the same thing, and yeah a lot of what you pay for is the brand, cusco and JIC use stronger materials and are purpose built. If I were you, Cusco Triangle.

Cusco bar fits and looks great. Very well made and did stiffen up the rear under hard driving. BTW unless you're getting the carbon wrapped rear bars, the price you listed is very high.

Thanks for your input guys, guess I'll go for Cusco. Also, about the prices I listed, are they really too high. How much did you guys pay for the Cusco Triangle, and where did you get them from. By the way this may seem sort of irrelevent but, is the Cusco Triangle strut bar fairly light in weight, just wondering?

does that bar make the chassis stiffer than the regular OS type bar? I would think with the extra joints, it would allow more flex.

The triangle bar is intended to be installed in addition to an OS bar straight across, it does not come with this bar.

Also, if you're concearned about the weight I can assure you these bars are very light for the amount of stiffness they give. But if you want the lightest, get the carbon fiber bar. It weighs next to nothing.
