Recently put a large stereo and some extra batteries in the rear of my qx4. And well, the rear is sagging and is lower than the front, and with passengers, it bottoms out and sucks to ride. I recently put in KYB GR2 struts but that obivously didnt help

Is there any companies out there that sell rear springs only??

Im in canada so a canadian distributor would be SWEET

Im assuming I am looking for something with maybe a 1" lift?? then after all that weight takes affect it would look just like a stock height truck correct?

When I load up with all my gear + audio + batteries. Im probly close to 700 lbs all in the back of the truck.

Any help greatly appreciated

http://www.ruggedrocksoffroad.com sells rear springs only. but for 700 lbs the OME springs might not be enough. I have the medium OME rear springs and 2 amps, 2 kicker CVR 10's and you can see my rear ride height in my pics. (with larger tires too tho) The springs at http://www.4x4parts.com are stiffer and taller, but i think they only sell in a set??

This 1" lift rear OME spring what you mean, why does it say medium spring rate (stock weight)....

Does that mean its like a stock spring but 1" taller than stock.

Id still sag that a good bit right?? As long as I dont bottom out and get some ride quality back over these stock springs Im using Id be happy.

just get the HD no-lift rear coils from 4x4parts.com. they're designed EXACTLY for this reason.

And what advantages does that have over completely replacing the spring with a strong one?

I'll look into the pricing

With the air lift 1000 you control the ride quality; whether you want the ride to be stiffer or not, where as with the coil spring replacement you are only gonna make it stiffer.

i forgot about the airlift kit, but that would probably be your best option as you can adjust how much sag vs what kind of ride quality youd get,.

edit: plus the price you really cant beat it.

ANyone have any videos or threads of the install? I dont get how these air lift kits work or where the fittigns go, and how you much pressure the bags need. DO they need constant (for a daily driver) fillings??

What kinda psi do the bags see

I dunno if the nipple has to be at the top or not, might be fine putting it at the bottom

I'll have to climb under the car in the morning and see what the top and bottom look like

Parts-improvements doesnt carry air lift, just called

The air lift 1000 is simple, you jack up your car or put it on a lift and let your axle sag; then you deflate the bags and stuff them between your springs with the nipples down and it comes with tubes that you can run to a T and you can either air it up manually or they sell a compressor that has a cab mount pressure gauge and will automatically air it up.... and you can control the pressure.

you have to remove the coils to install the bags, but it's still an easy install. drill out the hole in the coil base so you can fit the air line through it.

the nipple should face down and i'd recommend running individual air lines from each bag. this is going to be a permanent thing because the audio equipment is permanent, so there's no point in running them to a tee.

also, by running them separate, you can adjust from left to right, in case the load is not perfectly balanced and you have a little bit of a lean.

Take pictures and let me know how the install goes; I was actually looking into these but I got my lift kit.... I don't think anyone has posted pics and how to install these yet.... maybe you can get pinned after the fact.

the bottom hole is not accessible without removing the coil. there's no way you are going to easily get the bags between the coils.

True, you are going to have to remove the springs.... plus it will make it easier; just jack up the car and unbolt the shocks and let your axle sag until the springs come out..... then just put them back in with the bags deflated and set it down and compress the springs and reconnect the shocks.
