Im trying to understand the fsm on how to remove the rear springs but I dont have everything or understand everything.

I was hoping it could be done by jacking up the rear end real high and maybe disconnect the panhard bar and the spring could be dropped out??

Hoping there is an easy way to do it, or maybe a trick or two someone could tell me

My 01 Qx4 is a 2wd, hoping that may make it even easier.

Thanks guys :bigthumb:

I kinda dont know how to explain it but i think we used a jack under the lower control arm where it connects to the frame, and then used a jack on one side of the axle to tilt it, and the side that is now wider youd put on a spring compressor to get it out..

Hard for me to explain as me and my dad just went started jacking it up and figured it out quick enough.

2wd will have no effect on it as you still have a rear axle and all. same setup as 4wd,

i didnt disconnect any panhard bars or anything, just figured out how to lift the car and then move the axle around

i hope this helps.

you can disconnect the shocks, jack it up real high and they will pop out

i didnt do that however... i jacked it up off the ground, removed the bumpstops, and used a spring compressor.

well I dont have bumpsstops anymore. You thnk I could just disconnect the lower shock bolt, jack one side up as high as I could and the axle would drop enough that the spring would be loose??

No need to disconnect panhard bar?? not different between our year chassis?

thanks for these quick replies guys, I might even do this tonight!!

i never tried that method myself but in theory it should work.

just be careful not to overextend/break any brake lines, or the vent line on your differential.

Are you changing springs?
Or replacing the bumpstops?

The latter does not require removing the spring.

in USA, the chassis is the same from 1996 to 2004.

So no. No difference between our chassis.
