My Pathfinder is 12 years old and I was wondering if I should replace the rear springs. The front ones were replaced a few years ago after I found a broken one. I havent noticed any bottoming out, but was wondering if they were worn out. So how do you know?

I guess I'm not the only one or it's pretty rare that they actually wear out based on the lack of responses. I ordered some Gas-a-just shocks, I bet they will stiffen things up quite a bit. (I hope)

Mine are still original and seem fine. I thought I remembered reading of a spring test somewhere in the FSM but can't find it at the moment. I'd just make sure yours are not heavily compromised by rust and are free of major damage.

Yea the springs themselves look to be in good condition. My shocks are probably worn out and are making the ride a little sloppy. They are original shocks and I've got 105k miles them.
