My rear speakers and defogger don't work. I'm thinking it might be related to my sound system, since all the wires behind the radio were all cut up when i got the car (i guess the previous owner decided to install cheap 10 disc cd player and sub himself, and wasn't very good at it).

I took all his crap out and reconnected the wires properly, but maybe there's still a loose connection? Is there a fuse that controlls the rear speakers and defogger, i didn't see one in the manual, but i could have missed something.

Thanks

Okay, here's some more info that will hopefully help you help me.

I did some testing today using both my 240's one has the problem, the other is fine, and here is what it up.

It's not the cd player unit itself. It's not the speakers.

It has something to do with the connection between the cd player and the rear speakers. I borrowed one of those ohmmeters, or whatever they're called (sorry, don't know alot about electical stuff). I did some testing and found a problem.

There is no connection between the rear speaker connector for the cd player, and the rear speaker connector for the speaker. The thing is there isn't anywehe that i can see where the connection is broken. On the left rear the wires had been cut and twisted back together. I checked them out and put one of those crimping connectors on it.

Still no connection between both the positive and negative connectors for both speakers.

Is there a fuse somewhere that i can check? Please help!

Thanks

I only have manuals back to 92 so I cant reffrence the wiring diag, But THe speaker wires are a straight shot to the speaker, something has to be broke somewhere or disconnected, As far as the rear defroster check the fuese in the kick panal and under the hood, If these are ok you need to do voltage checks at the hatch for power and ground.

Okay, thanks. I think i am just going to run new speaker wires back to the speakers. I will check the rear defroster, but in the manual i think it says you need some special tool to repair it, so i'm not sure what i'm going to do.

If the grid is broke you can buy a repair kit at most auto part stores pretty cheap. I am thinking if the fuse to it isnt blown you have a broken ground where the wire feeds to the hatch at the hinge area.

Thanks for the help, i ran new speaker wire and the speakers work. Now i will look into the defogger. Thanks for the info on the repair kit, i've checked all the fuses and they're fine, so i'll check for the ground wire.
