So i was driving home in my 90 300zx na 2+0 and i heard a rattling noise when i went over bumps, and the car would lose some control. shortly after i stopped to soon realize the driver side rear shock snapped off. i found many sites on the write ups on how to replace it, but i am looking to upgrade my suspension a little bit. i am looking to spend from 500-700$ for parts also if i upgrade the rear do i have to upgrade the from as well. so i was wondering what are some good parts for suspension to install? and what are some good brands. i was thinking about installing some coil overs but was not sure if i got the rear i would have to do the from as well. so i am not sure what the best thing would be to do as far as upgrading the rear suspension. also if i were just to bring the car to a shop and have just the shocks replaced any idea what the labor would cost? thank you

Let me add to this a little, this car is my weekend car, so i do like it to be more sporty but also comfortable, i don't go to tracks often but like to have i nice firm ride, so what i am asking is what is a good set up weather it be shocks and springs or coil overs, witch would be better for what is use it for.

Do you want to lower the car a lot? If so, I'd get coilovers. Get a quality set and your ride will still be very comfortable. If you just want a little bit firmer and don't have any particular interest in getting way low, then eibach springs might be perfect. They are very affordable and offer a slight drop with a big performance gain. They are comfortable too, as long as you choose a good shock to pair it with. Lots of people use KYB AGX shocks with them.

I would like to add the KYB AGX sturts with the eibachs are great, I DD my Z & around town i can soften the struts up & if I feel like doing some spirited driving, I can stiffen them up. For your budget, thats the best option. I you have the oem spring & struts, they are probably already sagging & you are probably already lowered .8". I know mines was. If you go with anything else coils, or springs that go lowere than .8", you will have to correct the camber and toe. If thats not done your tires will be toast in a couple of months.

Do you know what that set up costs roughly, had I don't want to lower it to much like u said around. 80 is plenty because I have 18 in wheels on and I don't want to rub or have my tires get worn, I did buy a camber kit a while back but ebay brand do you think that's a bad choice, its only a camber kit so I did not think it was important to get a good brand, also how long do you think it will take to install that setup? Thanks

It took me about 2.5 hours to do mine (Eibachs). But I had a lift, power tools, shop spring compressor, etc. In a driveway, it'd take a lot longer. I would set aside an afternoon to do it. Then get an alignment of course :)

I got mine off ebay too, called "Godspeed". Working out great for me and I'll be getting the Eibachs set too :)

ive been using tokico blues with tein H-tech springs for over a year now, very happy with the setup. cost about as much a decent set of coilovers, $900ish, but you dont need to get adjustable suspension parts

My wheels are 18s. I don't want to lower like crazy but I don't want them to rub the wheels, I want a pretty aggressive set up but still comfortable to drive, I want ajgustibe shocks, aswell
