I have just noticed whilest reversing in front of a large glass panel that the brake light in the rear window behind the rear seat/trunk isn't working. However, I have a factory spoiler with brake light inset, which works fine. Can you have both the spoiler and trunk brake lights working at the same time or does the trunk light become redundant on cars with the spoiler? I am not sure if the trunk brake light ever worked as this is the first time I've actually noticed it not working.

If they both can function at the same time, how do I replace the bulb?

Sounds like the factory spoiler was added after the purchase of the car. My car came from the factory with the spoiler - therefore it has no interior brakelight. G with spoilers installed at the factory have no interior brakelight.

Many people - when they add the factory spoiler with brakelight - they disable the interior light. IMO having both lights looks kinda tacky - and is a tell tale sign that the spoiler was added after purchase.

So it sounds like on your car - the spoiler was installed after purchase - and the installer disconnected the interior brake light.

Dealers may add the spoiler at the lot and in some cases, it is added at the port to meet the demands after the normal manufacturing process was completed. In which case, they disable the light as cali already mentioned.
