Rear seat removal in 2002 Sentra?

A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

Can anyone give me some details on removing a non-folding rear seat in a 2002 Sentra? The trunk became stuck and will not open so I need to try to get there through the rear opening. TIA.

Pretty sure the owner's manual has instructions. I was also under the impression that all B15's had split-folding rear seats.

Even if it does have folding rear seats, and I think it does, don't you have to open the trunk to pull the release?Kinda catch-22 there.

I am following-up with this in case anyone else has a similar problem in the future. To recap, this was a friends car and she was unable to get into the truck because the lock had been rekeyed and she did not (unknowingly) get the trunk key when she bought it. Also, the use of the key remote and inside car remote switch would not open the trunk although you could hear the actuator working.

As correctly stated above, this car does have the split folding rear seat. I pulled the bottom of the rear seat out - two tabs under each side and it comes out very quick. I next removed all the attaching lower bolts from the bottom of the upright portion of the rear seat. This allowed me just enough room to see the seat release lever in the trunk that I could not reach. Well, I used my McGyver tactics and ended up using a rake to pop the lever. It worked and I was then able to get into the trunk to see what was going on with the latch mechanism.

There is a valet lever on the trunk mechanism that disables the electronic actuator from engaging the latch. This means that when this is pushed down then none of the remotes will work - only the key will operate the trunk. This is were I ran into a problem since I did not have a working key for the trunk. Hope this helps in case someone else ever runs into this same problem.

Your reply brought back to mind a similar problem.Same thing happened to my mum's '06 Sentra.Somehow she activated the lever (probably when she was hauling out the groceries), and called me with the same problem. The solenoid was activating, but it wouldn't open. She had the key though, and was able to open the trunk manually.I found the valet lever by accident, more than anything. That brings another point to mind. There are usually two keys with the car.One is a 'master' key that opens all the locks, including the trunk. The other key is only an ignition key and will not open the trunk (valet key).I suspect your friends Sentra wasn't actually re-keyed.She probably inadvertently ended up with the ignition (valet) key only. She needs the master key as well. You should be able to get one, either through the dealer, or possibly e-bay.

idk if its the same as my 06 but mine came with 2 master keys and a valet key the 2 master keys have chrome nissan emblems on them the valet key has a black nissan emblem so depending on the color of the emblem your friend might actually have the master key and the trunk had actually been re-keyed or maybe they did just get the valet key

I know the right back seat, the smaller side folds down, but I only know how to access it through the trunk itself. Anyone else have ideas?
