this is a stupid post so bear with me. i noticed that the '90 has big shoulder harness mechanisms mounted up top. the '89 does not. anyreason not to replace em with the lighter old school ones that bolt straight into the frame.

i didnt know the 89s didnt have shoulder belts in the back... where does the retractor mount? I wouldnt mind putting just lap belts in the rear. It would be better than having none like i do now...

Just remember, if your car originally had rear shoulder belts, and it no longer does, you might have trouble at inspection. Depends on the state. Some may have it as a requirement to have all seatbelts the car came with from factory. Or some may let you pass inspection, but noone can ride without a seat belt.

Or your state could be like texas. Adults may ride in the back seat unbuckled. (or did they change that?)

no thats not what i meant. there are shoulder belts, but they dont have the whole pulley assebly thing up top like in the '90 version. the belt just bolts into the frame on the '89.
