I have been trying to fix this problem for about a week now, I have searched many times and tried all the solutions people have suggested, but no luck. This is a 93 base coupe.

When I bought the car the p/s headlight, the gauge lights and dome light were not working, I am not sure about the running lights because I never drove the car at night. I had an aftermarket stereo put in and noticed that they left a ground wire loose. I grounded that out then replaced the headlight switch and that fixed the headlight.

I have also replaced the dimmer switch and TCU, all the fuses are fine and I checked the wires from the rear lights but can not see anything wrong with them.

I see that the running lights and brake lights are wired together in the rear bulb assembley. I don't know if this is supposed to be that way. But I pulled the bulb assembly and checked the the connector from the chassis with a volt meter and noticed that when I push the brake there is a signal, but when I let go of the brake there is no signal.

I read something about the fusible link under the hood, but I am not sure what I am supposed to be checking for there. All those fuses (I am not sure what they are called) are fine as well.

I isolated the problem to the headlight switch. I checked the voltage there and found that there is no power going to the wire that runs back to the taillights.

I ran a jumper wire between the power to the switch and the wire going to the taillights and the taillights started working. But then they stay on all the time.

The problem must be in either the switch connector or the connector running to the SMJ.
