You don't actually need to take the cotterpin and castle nut off, that holds the hub to the axle. The rotor will slide over that. The internal drum brakes (emergency brake) is holding the rotor on by simple friction. There will be a rubber plug that you want to remove from the rotor, rotate until the now unplugged hole is at the bottom and look in with a flashlight. You will see a rotating star, one way loosens and one way tightens. Loosen this and the rotor will budge off. Sometimes tapping lightly with a rubber hammer will persuade the rotor if its worn into a deep groove.Shaftinator24 wrote:Alright guys I'm pretty stuck right now on doing my brakes for my 1990 300zx TT. I've gotten everything off of it it seems. The brake caliper, I took off the cotter pin, I took off the castle nut behind the cotter pin pretty much everything has been unscrewed and I can't get the rotor to budge?! Do I have to take apart everything including the axle just to get the friggin rotor off? I've been working on this project for the last 14 hours and I've only gotten this far! I JUST WANT THE DAMN ROTOR TO COME OFF!! It's driving me insane!! Anyways let me know what I need to do to get my rotor off!
