I Tried this with another set up converting the RCA to HDMI then to the iPhone 6 and it didn't work. Maybe the way your doing it might work. Try it and let us know.

Based on the number of pins, I am guessing that the lightning connector does not have an analog output. Given that, I doubt the cables you are planning to use will work. To be clear, if it will work on a TV with an analog RCA input (red, white, yellow vs the digital component red, green, blue, red, white), then it will work in our cars. That having been said, to answer your first question about the RCA jacks, they are for A/V through the "Aux" input (Red=Right Audio, White=Left Audio, Yellow=Video), but video will only play on the front screen when the vehicle is stopped with the parking brake engaged or when the "nav hack" is installed and enabled.

Probably your HDMI converter then. I know some people make retarded analog HDMI to RCA converters that only work if you are sending an analog signal over the HDMI, which nothing does because HDMI is digital. I have used an active HDMI to RCA converter and it works great. Plugged in a chromecast this way to cast my phone or tablet screens onto the car display and it works fine with both video and audio. Also can plug an XBox 360 in to the main display and it works fine and has been for years.

Apple and iPhones are a whole nother animal though. Apple changes their spec too much and breaks compatibility which is a problem, and the converters can be entirely hit or miss depending on brand. It is possible to do it though, just might be a lot of trial and error and which hardware works will depend on your iPhone model.

If you plan to be using the RCA inputs pretty much all the time, you may want to invest in replacing the internal wiring from those jacks to the head unit with shielded cables. The RCA jacks pick up a LOT of electrical noise.

What kind of power inverter do you have if you don't mind me asking I was looking at putting a PS3 inside as the ps3 uses 190 watts of power

Ill have to check, I think I got it off of Newegg or Amazon. It is some 180W inverter that is fed from the cigarette lighter plug by the RCA jacks. Only problem is that it introduces a lot of noise on the RCA when in use because the wiring is all together and completely unshielded and thin, and the nature of the inverter is noisy. It works well though, never had a problem in years and it supplies power perfectly fine to my 140W XBox 360. I am actually going to look at hard wiring the 360 into the car system though, since it is dumb to have 12 (ish) volts DC from the car, run throguh an inverter for 110AC, then plug the power brick in to convert it back to some DC voltage. Ill look at see what voltage the 360 actually needs and see if I can just hard wire it in and remove the inverter altogether.

I have tried to connect a Dash Cam to the RCA Video input and the picture just rolls up and down, I have tried with a direct camera and a Dvd input and it does the same so am guessing it could be solved in some settings menu as if I connect straight into a TFT screen all is ok

I have connected many devices to the navigation screen using this: http://www.amazon.com/PAC-ISHD01-Compos ... B00LUX1F5K
It is rca jacks to hdmi I currently have my laptop in my car it works well but you need the navigation/dvd hack for it to work in motion I don't have but I ordered it and it's on the way so if your using iPhone or any Apple product get this adapter then get a hdmi to lighting and you can have your phone on your oem navigation screen thanks hope I helped some people

It sounds to me like your system has a problem. I have never heard of a setting to correct this, and it is something I don't believe I've ever even seen on an LCD (vs a CRT, which had some components that could be adjusted to correct it). In other words, I don't think this is something that can be fixed with a setting, but suspect hardware will need to be replaced. That having been said, if you want to look at the diagnostic / dealer-only settings, I believe you hold the settings button down and then turn one of the knobs (either volume or tune, I forget which) for 25 clicks. If I remember correctly, there may be an even deeper setting if you turn the knob for an additional 25 clicks while holding settings (I'm not sure if this is an again thing or if it's 50 clicks while holding it once). If you figure out how to get in those menus, when you back out of them, the system will reset, but I would advise against changing anything in there unless you know exactly what it will do, because they are hidden for a reason. Just remember that you and you alone would be liable for any ill-effects that could be caused by adjusting those settings.

The quoted post was aimed at crafty and not the OP. Also, it subsequently occurred to me that while the display may not have adjustments, there may be something between the display and the RCA jacks that does. Displays don't have adjustments anymore because computers send Hsync and Vsync signals. Given this, and assuming that the Radio/HVAC/NAV stuff displays fine and only RCA input scrolls, this would imply the problem is with the RCA signal's sync as opposed to the display itself. Unfortunately, I have no clue where/how that sync signal would be generated, but it would probably be a better place to start looking into that issue.

I remember another member and I discussed this but not in depth since I don't use iPhone just my ipod and in my 08 advanced tech package it is integrated to the center console, although only for music so that doesn't help!!

First of all of your interested in the nav hack it is best caked an e brake bypass! http://www.Strictlygz.com is where you want to get your plug and play harness!! Second of all, the rear a/v Jacks are used through your aux input function which you'll need a special cable designed for Apple products to stream audio AND video, you'll need to purchase this at an Apple store!! No aftermarket a/v cable will work even though many advertise they do....

I hope this helps someand if you need more detailed info I can try to get some but start by getting the a/v cable at an Apple store and if you plan on watching videos while diving you'll also need the e brake bypass harness!

Good luck!!! :bigthumb:
