Rear power locks not working

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hi guys,

So, my REAR Driver side passenger power locks doesn't work.

I tried to "unlock it" manually and then use a switch to "lock it" and it does not respond.
I tried to "lock it" with a lock switch and it does not "lock"

The issue is that it just does not move regardless, though the rest of the locks all work fine.

I thought it might be the battery in my intelligent key, but all the other locks works, so I think i can safely rule that out.

Any ideas of how to test or how to fix this? or what part to replace it with? I'm not entirely familar, I'm used to "manual locks"

Thanks in advance!

If you lock or unlock the door, does the lock still function? Does it sound like there's a noise coming from the door when you try and do that? To me, it sounds like some sort of electric actuator that's failed inside the door, especially if it still locks and unlocks when you manually move the little lock indicator,.

No, When i Lock and unlock it does not function, that is the issue.

No noise what so ever.

it only unlocks and locks, IF I DO IT MANUALLY as in I actually touch the lock itself.

If you want to try and diagnose it yourself, go here...

Start on page DLK-74. I thing the most likely cause is the door lock actuator has failed.

I had a similar problem. The dealer told me the door lock actuator needed to be replaced; they charged me $240 labor and $287 parts. I don't know if there's any cheaper fixes; this did fix the problem though.

Two more of my door lock actuators stopped working, a few years after I got one replaced. I'm guessing the dealer will want $1000 to fix them.
Anyone know of any cheaper options? Do other manufacturers make the same part? Infiniti's quality seems pretty poor for these things; I think they're also called "door lock assembly", mentioned in post6550048.html

Door lock actuators are a common failure in 2003-2009 (and maybe more) Hondas/Acuras. I have changed a couple and although it was a PITA, it wasn't brain surgery and it was very cheap to DIY... The actuators (OEM Honda) were just about $40 or so off of Ebay... There were plenty of youtube videos due to the depth of the problem. Just removing the door panel and the latch mechanism. I can't imagine there is too much difference. Check Google and you tube, or download the manuals from this forum to see if you can figure it out. I would never pay $500, especially for a rear door. :)

My driver door lock failed this last winter. Got it tested at the dealership, they said gotta replace or eventually it will fail. Paid 800+ for the job, works really well now.
