I have replaced the rear output shaft seal on my 04 Nissan pathfinder THREE TIMES!!!! and it still leaks. The indicator is that the rear glass gets covered with the oil from the transfer case. I would truly appreciate it if someone knows the cause, remedy of WTF is going on with this truck. I have no problem with the transfer case, transmission, or anything. I will say that when I am in the process of removing the seal, oil pours from the rear of the transfer case when I remove the old seal. please help!!!!!

I had the exact same problem with my 04 pathfinder. Ended up buying a used driveshaft for about $150 and problem solved. I think there may have been a very small groove worn into the yoke where the seal sits or it may have been slightly warped, not quite sure.

Thanks now I must go through the rigor roll of finding one. If you have any suggestions I would also appreciate it.

Did you end up putting a different driveshaft in? If so did the leaking stop?

I replaced the entire transfer case took a day and a half with a friend. It cost me $500. The first few days the problem still remained. I figured maybe it was the driveshaft, but then the leak stopped and I still have oil in the transfer case. I check my back window for oil residue and there is none. I pray its fixed because removing and installing a transfer case was pure HELL. Now I have a grinding noise whenever I go over a bump, maybe ball joints.
